The Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) is one of the most drastic changes in payment reform in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) industry in the past two decades. Effective October 1, 2019, the Model is the next integral step in the transition toward universal payment models and value-based care. PDPM will transform SNF payment from one primarily driven by rehabilitation volume, to one based upon identified patient needs and conditions.
In this presentation, naviHealth experts Colleen O’Rourke and Amy Leibensberger, discuss how in the new order of PDPM, SNF providers will not only have to swiftly adapt to a new payment structure but will also need to modify nursing and therapy service delivery. They also detail imperative strategies for SNFs to insure both quality outcomes and cost-efficient care are achieved simultaneously and how developing robust high-quality networks with Health Plans, Health Systems and other PAC providers will be crucial for PDPM success.
